Introduction to IT in Business
How information technology underpins modern work - the components of a computer system, operating systems including Windows and Linux, and where IT creates value in a business.
A six-month certificate in practical information technology for work and business - devices and digital literacy, Microsoft 365, online presence, digital marketing, cybersecurity, ERP, digital payments, and AI.
Every organisation now runs on technology - documents, email, payments, marketing, and increasingly AI - yet most people are never formally trained in any of it. Across six months, the Certificate in Information Technology takes scholars from computer fundamentals and digital literacy through the working tools of modern business: Microsoft 365 and Outlook, project management, websites and social media, digital marketing, cybersecurity, ERP systems, and digital payments.
Each module is taught hands-on by a working practitioner - scholars learn by building and operating, not by watching. The program concludes with a supervised final project applied to a real working context, which forms the basis of the final individual assessment.
The program is structured as ten taught modules moving from computer fundamentals and digital literacy through the working systems of modern business - communication, online presence, marketing, security, ERP, and payments - to practical AI. Each module concludes with a hands-on assignment, and the program concludes with a supervised final project.

Working confidently with hardware and software - device basics, hardware fundamentals and PC maintenance, file management, and core digital literacy.
The tools modern teams run on - e-mail, calendars, and time and task management with Microsoft Outlook, plus shared documents, chat, and online meetings.
Producing working business documents, spreadsheets, and presentations with Microsoft 365, and planning and managing structured work with Microsoft Project.
Building and managing an organisation's presence online - websites, social media platforms, and the content basics that make a presence credible.
Reaching customers online - channels, campaigns, basic analytics, and the discipline of measuring what actually works.
Protecting data, devices, and people - common threats, safe practices, passwords and access, and responsible digital conduct.
How organisations manage operations on integrated systems - what ERP is, its core modules, and where it fits a small business.
Moving money safely online - payment platforms, online transactions, and the basic financial controls that protect a business.
Practical use of current AI tools in small business work - where they apply, where they do not, and how to use them safely and productively.
Each scholar completes a supervised project applying the program to a real working context - a digital setup, an online presence build, or a business workflow - under faculty supervision. The project is the basis of the final individual assessment.
